Service Description
This level is for drivers who have not road raced wheel to wheel who wish to learn to increase their driving skills and track speed at 7/10ths. Proof of HPDE1 or equivalent required for track registration. Team Stradale at ABCC is an excellent competition driving school if you want to get a racing license. if you have a car that can pass SCCA tech inspection, the full multi-day course costs $5,824 (2021) and is highly recommended if you are decided on what you want to do. You can rent a race prepared MX5, an excellent starter racer for about $2,200, a "package deal" of $8064 with no additional fees. If you are not decided, the school offers 1/2 day sessions in a spec Miata for $1,200. This is a pure race-car. BMWM3Trackexperience offers various packages including weekday evening coaching from 5 pm to 8:30 pm for a $1,500 "package". The main difference between this coaching and Stradale is that the car is a performance enhanced streetcar, more like what most people would be able to buy and drive to and from the track but a far cry from whatever street car you currently drive, even a stock M3. The passenger seat allows in car instruction and BMWm3TE uses Garmin Catalyst tutorial data and video capture to provide in-car real-time feedback as well as post session downloads. This Catalyst Technology is highly recommended by two of the most respected driver coaches in North America, Peter Krause and Ross Bentley. The videos with data overlay are available for students for a fee negotiable based on how many video sessions they want to order. Students will need to sign a waiver that they are completely comfortable with a 5 speed manual and will be responsible for any gearbox/clutch damage. While the car has a rev-limiter, the driver will be required to control the RPM on up and downshifts to 6.800 RPM so the engine doesn't ever trigger the limiter.. Focus is helping novices learn the proper downshifting and heel and toe technique, master threshold breaking, proper brake release and turn ins, especially late apexes, closer apex and using the curb safely and a smooth fast corner exit. The goal is to acquire consistency smoothness and track "rhythm". There are two basic options, weekday "Sunset" courses and weekend, (usually Monday half or full day courses).
